RIS at 50

There’s been a flurry of email from my elementary batchmates because our school, Ruamrudee International School, is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year. Thanks to my father, I had the privilege of studying in Bangkok from kindergarten to Grade 6 and without a doubt, those were the happiest days of my life.

If you go to bangkok and you want to go to mass, you’ll probably end up going to our old campus. The Holy Redeemer Church is a tourist attraction in itself, a Catholic Church designed using Thai architectural principles. The stations of the cross inside was made by a Filipino (continuous stone carving lining the inside wall). Check out some pictures here: http://www.holyredeemerbangkok.net/hrc/

I hear from my batchmates that the redemptorists who run the school are tearing our old campus down to make room for a convent. Kinda sad but I guess that’s how things really are. I guess, images of the place will have to live on in pictures and memories.
